CERTIFIED ADDICTIONOLOGY TRAINING

CO-SPONSORED BY: Springfield College, (Massachusetts, USA.), St. Martin’s College (Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA.), World Chiropractic Alliance (WCA), American Association of Oriental Medicine, American Psychotherapy Association, American College of Forensic Examiners International.

At least 30% of the population is addicted: Drugs, Gambling, Sex, Work and/or Food. Alcohol and other drugs are associated with: 62% assaults, 20-35% suicides, 52% rapes, 38% child abuse, 50% spousal abuse, 50% traffic fatalities, 49% murders, 68% manslaughter charges, 69% drownings. The direct and indirect detrimental health outcomes from addictive disorders are the number one cause of illness, and the costs associated with their treatment in the developed world today!

An enormous opportunity exists for health care professionals willing to establish themselves as the primary health care professional with the skills and therapeutic armory to attack this international epidemic.

Consider this: The medical profession’s main weapon against addiction is pharmaceuticals! They replace the drug of choice with the drug of prescription.

On the other hand, Chiropractic for example, has at its disposal a well-kept secret weapon, which has been shown by scientific study to dramatically improve recovery outcomes. US experience has shown that when the chiropractic adjustment is combined with other drug-free modalities in conjunction with the tried and true psychosocial therapies, the results are staggering.

Similarly Acupuncture and Auriculotherapy have played mainstream roles in addiction recovery programs across the world.

Psychosocial and psychological interventions are the cornerstones of any comprehensive recovery model.

Nutritional interventions can also play a vital role in the rehabilitation of the dysfunctional physiology found in most addicts.

This boils down to an immense need for a multidisciplinary attack against this epidemic.

AddictionologyA Certified Addictionologist postgraduate program is now available in Australia. This internationally recognised program is into its 16th straight year in the USA. The curriculum consists of 10 fifteen hour modules. Three of these modules are run in classroom format. The other seven are “study at home”, video modules (mailed directly to the participant). Assessment occurs at the end of module 10 leading to certification.

The beauty of this program for the busy health professional is that you can study at your own pace, ordering the video modules when you are ready. The majority of the study can be done in the comfort of your own home.

This program is now accredited by Springfield College, Massachusetts (www.spfldcol.edu). Credits can now be transferred towards Bachelor’s and Master’s level studies.

If you are thinking that addicts might not be too nice to work with, then consider this. There are 5 addictions: Drugs, gambling, work, sex and food. At least 20% of your current clientele are addicted to drugs: They just don’t talk to you about it because you have limited rehabilitation options to offer them, and you may not know how to recognise these high-risk patients.

Additionally, 30% of the rest of the community is addicted to something, and many will willingly pay health care professionals that can help them. Also, addicts don’t just hang out on the streets. In fact a higher percentage of the “white collar” population is addicted than the “blue collar” population. Addiction recovery is a largely untapped therapeutic marketplace. Many rewards lie awaiting those willing to roll up their sleeves to get involved.

This training also covers the important areas of Affective and Compulsive Disorders, including cutting edge management strategies for our community’s number one paediatric problem, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

This program is the only international multidisciplinary educational initiative that offers all healthcare professionals the highest level in addiction certification available.
