COURSE DESCRIPTION AND RESOURCE LIST:

1) DVD of 1.5 hours lecture material including “powerpoint” slide show:

0.5 hours: Description of history and classification of ADHD, causative and contributing neurobiological factors, classical signs and symptoms, diagnostic criterion and assessments, DSM-IV classification, differential diagnostic considerations and procedures.

0.5 hours: Discussion of mainstream management including pharmacological and behaviour modification models. Therapeutic efficacy, side effects, drug interactions and contraindications. Discussion of cultural stigma and implications of the diagnosis and standard management of ADHD.

0.5 hours: Description of alternative and natural treatment modalities including dietary management, nutritional supplementation, Chiropractic, Auriculotherapy, Neurobiofeedback and a variety of less established therapies, their demonstrated or proposed modes of action, and practical “self-help” strategies.

2) Super Behavior Manual.
